The Arab Horse Society
National Summer Show
Malvern, 27th-29th July, 2000

These photographs were taken at the UK AHS National show, held at
the Three Counties Showground, Malvern, Worcestershire,
England, on the 27th to 29th of July, 2000.

This is the "big one" in the Arabian show calendar, our National Arabian Show.
The show has a good atmosphere, but had what has become the "typical" Malvern
show weather, hot burning sun in the morning, then heavy showers and
thunderstorms in the afternoon ! But I won't complain, some of the best
horses in the country are at this show, it's worth getting wet for it !

Some people I know have requested I leave the photography details
on this page, these are in italics below the details of the horses.

This collection of pictures was taken over the last two days of this wonderful 3 day show.

Apologies if I have any details of the horses wrong, please
email
me if you spot one of my mistakes or have any comments !

This is Gai Radiant Dream [US] (Gai Radiant x Gaishea) an American bred 7yo mare owned by Mrs S A Watts of Halsdon Arabians. She won her class on the Friday.

Taken on Kodak ASA800 film, 60-300mm zoom lens, using a Chinon CE4.
I was quite pleased by the perfomance of this new Kodak film.

Another mare from Halsdon Arabians that won her class (where this was taken) and went on to become the senior female champion of the show. She is the Polish bred 10 year old, Emilda (Pamir x Emanacja).

I loved the look of the mane on this horse as I looked through the viewfinder, and hoped it would show on the photo as good as it looked then, I think it has. Taken on Kodak ASA800 film, 60-300mm zoom lens, using a Chinon CE4.

This was taken during one of the gelding classes on the Satuday. It's Mustique Moniet (Ffatal Attraction x Ross-Moniet).

Taken on Kodak ASA400 film, 135mm lens, using a Chinon CE4.

The winner of the gelding class 10b (where this was taken) and eventual winner of the gelding championship of the show, Jaleel Ibn Dawn Star (Dawn Star x Khai Bint Procyon).

Taken on Kodak ASA400 film, 135mm lens, using a Chinon CE4.

A 5 y.o. black stallion from class 19a, the American bred
R Ali Bey (Magic Dream x Bey Affair). This horse came third is this class on the Saturday.

Taken on Kodak ASA400 film, 300mm lens, using a Chinon CE4.

A photo from the Western riding classes on the Saturday Morning. The horse is TA Rodansk (Gallup x Oh My Romance) of Toskhara Arabians, and is ridden by Ms Jeanne Harford. It was good too see an increase in popularity for these classes.

Taken on Kodak ASA800 film, 60-300mm lens, using a Ricoh KR10, an old but solid and still reliable camera.
I spent a while playing with the idea of using the bush on the right to compose and frame this shot, I think it worked.

My favourite picture from the show, and the last one on that roll of film too ! Taken during the Veteran Stallion class, it's the class winner, the famous Russian bred horse,Vodolej, showing the youngsters how an Arabian should move even at the age of 17 !

Taken on Kodak ASA800 film, 60-300mm zoom lens, using a Ricoh KR10
