The stables in Hanley Park This event lasted over both days of the first weekend in September. Many of the activities were based in Hanley Park (near where I live). The photograph shows the stables that were built in the park to house the horses taking part, to which the public were allowed access at various times on both days.

Taken on the Saturday, ASA200 film, 50mm lens, using a Chinon CE4.

Tack on display There were many things to see there, including the tack used for these horses...

Taken on the Sunday, ASA200 film, 60-300mm zoom lens, using a Chinon CE4

Farrier at work shoing one of the horses ....or see the farrier at work shoeing some of the horses taking part....

Taken on the Sunday using ASA200 film, 60-300mm zoom lens, using a Chinon CE4. I waited a while to get this picture, as I thought it would be interesting and I could make use of the unusual lighting (morning sunlight) to enhance this picture. Patience was rewarded I think 8-) I used a narrow aperature to get the depth of field required for this.

Horses being prepared for the show ...and watch the horses being prepared for the big parade around Hanley, Stoke on Trent.

Taken on the Sunday, ASA200 film, 60-300mm zoom lens on the Chinon CE4.

Clydesdale, head study But of course, the main attraction are these magnificent horses themselves.

One of two 'head studies' I did of this very friendly Clydesdale horse, who always took an interest in me passing by him. It's the sort of ''painting style" photograph I really enjoy taking. Taken on the Sunday, ASA200 film, 60-300mm zoom lens at around 150mm with the Chinon CE4.

Another photo of the Clydesdale Another photo of the Clydesdale horse above.

Another photo of this distinctively marked Clydesdale. Taken on the Sunday, ASA200 film, 50mm fixed lens with the CE4.
