The Talisman
The unicorn forewarned her son, beware of treacherous
man;
Withold from him the gift of Trust, for he'll trick you
if he can.
He'll show to you the face of truth, and hide his wicked
soul.
He'll calm your dread, and feign his love, and all for
shining gold.
Once he was a staunch true friend, defender of our kind,
Then gold became his only God, and greed possessed his
mind.
He plundered glorious, fruitful earth, and took from her
hearts core
Her undiscovered bounty, fiery jewels, and precious ore.
He craved our sacred golden horn and searched
relentlessly,
But eyes that seek the gleam of gold are blind to
Purity
He sees the beast, but not the horn, now hid in sanctity,
For virtues that his soul has lost, man's eyes no longer
see.
You may of your free will reveal, that you are Unicorn,
To a man who calls you friend, guard well the Golden
Horn.
Precious, Holy, Talisman, trusted to your care
Magical and Mystical, the Hope of Mother Earth.
Our days are spent in meadows sweet, man sees us unaware,
That Unicorn roams with his kin, amongst the proud wild
herd.
And at the setting of the sun, we wander through his
dreams.
To heal his soul, and free his mind, from all consuming
greed.
