New Websites

As usual there are a number of new sites to look at this month
that have been added to the unicorn links page which was
moved to a separate page a few months ago.

Unicorn Corner is wonderful and well designed site, full of interesting
things and original work including stories. Has a picture gallery too.
I recommend a visit to this one.

A small site I found, but also impressed me because it had some
original artwork and ideas in it was a site called Unicorn 1

The Unicorn Realm is part of a larger mainly dragon and fairy site
but has has some really good graphics with pictures and links.

Unicorns is a very nice site, with a large picture gallery (set out on
several pages so they load quickly), has information on unicorns too.

Fantasia (Unicorns and Pegasus World) has some original poetry,
pictures and links. The Unicorn Balance has some information
on unicorn mythology and a picture gallery too.

Another site with a large unicorn picture gallery is Ophiuran's Unicorns.
Sapphire's Unicorn page is an attractive site, with some "Last Unicorn"
pictures. It also has part of the authors own story on the history of the unicorn.
An Italian Unicorn page I found this month too was Nordistella Fantasy Page

Other new sites this month are :
Lady Shae's Unicorn Page, Lil Unicorns Meadow (I quite liked this one)
Mythical Horses and finally for this month, Unicorns Lair.

And if you ever wanted to ask the question 'Do I spend a lot of time
looking for unicorns sites ?', the answer is YES 8-).
Just don't ask how big my monthly phone bill is !

Other Website News

Mystical Unicorn (by Unicorn Lady) has moved from it's abac.com URL recently.
It is a very attractively designed site indeed with a number of interesting
pages including information on unicorns, stories and pictures.
The author has designed some desktop themes too, which are
available on the site. It's obvious that a lot of hard work has gone into
all this. Do check out this website, it's worth the time to visit.

Pages of Special Merit

This is where I review pages worthy of special merit each month.
These are pages I've visited or revisited that have something
unique and original about them, or really do show that the author
has put a lot of effort into writing and designing the site.

Hopefully this won't embarrass the site's author, I know him !
This month's special merit page is Unicorn Dream

This site has been slowly built up over the past few years and
has quickly established itself because of the exceptional quality
of the original artwork, and the depth of information on Unicorns it
contains. The page design itself is also outstanding and full of original
and clever ideas. As well as being an exceptional artist, the site's author,
Matthew Webber, is a talented writer too, and it shows ! This entire
webpage is a real treat to visit, visually outstanding and full of factual
information, written in a very comprehensible way with a lot of
humour too. If ever there was a Unicorn website that should be
at the top of a "must be seen" list, it's this one ! Do visit it !

I recently read on Sue Dawe's website that she will have a Unicorn
Calendar published for next year, 2001. I know many of you who love
her wonderful Unicorn artwork like I do will cheer at this news ! For more

Unicorn pictures (where to find them)

There are some sites with large and growing Unicorn picture collections.
There is a new site with an excellent unicorn picture collection at Danielle's Unicorn Page,
Unicorn Dreams has a growing collection of pictures, good quality scans too.
Holly's Unicorn Meadow has been recently updated and enlarged,
Theresa Farrell's site has some very good original fantasy artwork in her gallery.
Welcome To Wild Unicorns has an extensive collection, and
Paladin's Last Unicorn Page has a large collection of 'The Last Unicorn' movie images
Both of these are excellent web sites too, Paladins page has a bookstore too.
However, I still think Neysa may have one of the largest collections of unicorn
pictures on the internet, several artists exhibit their work there.

There is some excellent fantasy artwork on this site by Linda Gruber,
and some good tutorials on drawing techniques too ! (I've tried them).

The artwork of Gissel E.

This artist from Uruguay has recently done some wonderful Unicorn drawings.
They are being kindly being hosted by Neysa on her Unicorn picture page.
I must also thank Gissel E. for a wonderful picture she sent to me.
Do take a look at the Gissel E. collection, they're beautiful and inventive.

Neysa's Unicorn Picture Page has also been re-designed and moved
recently to a new URL. This must be the best Unicorn picture
collection on the net and it's always worth a visit.

More Unicorn Pictures

This is one of the first unicorn pictures I've done myself.
Its based on a photograph of a horse I took which
I've reworked. Click on the picture for the full size version.

Another unusual unicorn picture.
These two impressive stone unicorn carvings are
on a factory wall in Stafford near my home.
They were erected when the building was
constructed which was sometime around 1937-1938.  

Recently several more people have sent to me some wonderful unicorn
artwork they had created, which with their permission
I am showing on these pages

This picture, created using Photoshop, was sent to me by Mare Astra
as a self portrait. She is significant for having one of the first Unicorn
websites I ever found on the internet, and her site helped to
inspire the creation of this website over three years ago.

These two pictures were sent to me by an artist called Gennale.
I liked them so much I requested permission to put them
on my page, so here they are. The picture on the left is
called Tatianna, and the one on the right is called Wild.

This was one of two pictures sent to me by an an artist called Shar.

Content and Originality

Original work is becoming rarer, and certainly should be valued. But too many
websites recently though are copying others ideas and then claiming
sole right to it themselves ! They also often use annoying Java code that
stops the right mouse button from working. It's not easy to review pages
easily for mention on this page or bookmark them when half the
browsers functions have been disabled by unfriendly Java code !
